Jharkhand at a Glance

Jharkhand being the 28th state of India come into existence on 15 November 2000 on the eve of birth anniversary of the legendary Bhagwan Birsa Munda, a tribal freedom fighter, religious leader, and the folk hero of the renowned Munda tribe.

Jharkhand is famous for its rich mineral resources such as Uranium, mica, bauxite, granite, gold, silver, graphite, magnetite, dolomite, fireclay, quartz, feldspar, coal (35% of Indian reserves), iron, copper (20% of Indian reserves) etc. Forests and woodlands covered more than 29% of the state which is amongst the highest in India.

Jharkhand coupled with stunning valleys, waterfalls, wildlife, rich history, culture, festivals, music, and dance, Jharkhand is a place of unadulterated delight. Its rich cultural heritage has a multifaceted and glorious history with evidence of human habitation since pre-historic times. Today, nearly two-fifth of the population still consists of various indigenous people with Santhal, Oraon (Kurukh), Munda, Kharia and Ho as the key tribal groups.

Jharkhand Industrial Area Development Authority (JIADA)

The Jharkhand Industrial Area Development Authority ('JIADA') was created under the statutory provisions of the Bihar Industrial Area Development ('BIADA') Act, 1974 for the purpose of planned development of Industrial Areas, promotion of industries and matters appurtenant thereto.

As part of its activity, the Authority has developed the land handed over to it by the Government as industrial areas, provided basic infrastructure, sheds and plots of different sizes for allotment to investors /entrepreneurs to set up industries.

JIADA is responsible for the development of Industrial Areas in the State of Jharkhand. The administrative set up consists of Head office located in Ranchi and is supported by reginal offices at Adityapur, Ranchi, Bokaro and Deoghar. JIADA is responsible for Acquisition of Land, development of Infrastructure facilities like Road, Drainage, Water Supply, Public Utilities, etc within their jurisdiction. The main objective of JIADA is to promote the industries like small, medium, and large scale industries in order to ensure inclusive socio-economic growth in the State.

After acquisition of land either through the route of land acquisition laws or otherwise, the Authority shall determine the rate for allotment to the intending applicants keeping in view the land cost, expenditure incurred and expected expenditure to be incurred towards contour survey and plan layout, levelling of land and erection of boundary wall, construction of roads, sewerage and drainage, installation of street lighting, administrative cost and interest on capital investment, at the prevalent rate of the year in which the land vested in Jharkhand Industrial Area Development Authority.

To achieve inclusive growth and bring economic prosperity to the people of Jharkhand through sustainable industrialization, promotion of industries, providing gainful employment and a regionally balanced Industrial growth in the State of Jharkhand.

Ensuring well planned and structured industrial development in the State by developing industrial areas across the state by Providing the necessary infrastructure facilities like

  • Road, drainage, water supply, public utilities etc.
  • Providing common facilities for a number of industries.
  • Providing development of clusters.
  • Enabling small units to source products from one another.
  • Promoting balanced regional development.
  • Ensuring development of backward areas.
  • To strengthen industrial activity by allotting land to industries for industrial development purpose.
  • To establish industries across the State in time bound manner.
  • To strengthen single window system and ease of allotment.
  • To create enabling environment for industrial growth by developing robust industrial infrastructure.
  • To promote industries and encourage environment-friendly facilities.
